Can you guys take a look at these borescope pics?

Hey guys, just did a 100 hour pmag inspection and borescoped the cylinders. The valves look superb! Can you guys tell me if the cylinder/pistons looks normal? Seems like there is a fair amount of what I'm assuming to be lead deposit on the pistons. Kind of surprised by this as I run LOP or peak anytime I cruise. Oil analysis has been dang good with virtually everything below universal averages. Oil consumption is 1-2 qt per 25 hours. Thanks in advance!

First pics are cylinder 1

Kind of got scared that might be a crack but looking at it for awhile seems like there is just a line where the different deposits meet.

This cylinder runs well cooler than the rest if I am very much lean of peak. I usually enrichen to about peak to keep this one around 350 degrees in cruise. Looks like some of the deposits have come loose?

100 hours

You have 100 hours already? Congrats. Guess your wife wishes you were still building. Tell her the RV15 is coming out soon, that will make her happier.

Looks nice to me. Those deposits are not lead. It is from the modern additives used in our gasoline.

Haha she knows another one is coming in the next couple of years. Although I don't think the -15 is going to be fast enough for my liking. haha (and personally I don't think it will be 4 seat but I would love to be wrong)

here's a nice overview from AOPA of how the valves should look like...

Yep yep, seen that a few times, good link to have here.

all good, keep on flying :)

Thanks for taking a look! That's what I like to hear.

I'm no expert, but those look pretty clean to me.

Thanks for taking a look Larry. Hope the build is still going strong.

Thanks Larry, interesting about those deposits. Thanks for posting. Now I'm even more curious what those deposits are. Time for some research. :)

Borescope

Thanks for taking a chance and posting these. Really helps my engine education!

No problem, I always liked seeing inside other peoples engines. :)

Unfortunately no one has ever trained me on what I'm looking at (other than valves) haha.
