Let me see your side-by-side Classic Aero interior

It’s time to redo the Classic Aero interior in my RV-7. It’s showing it’s age. I might just go with the same color and pattern scheme as the current interior. However, I’d like to see what cool color combinations and patterns you guys have that might influence my opinion.

We're on year 14 of heavy abuse of our Classic Aero seats that are Fabric and still look great.

Guess my wife’s favorite color . . .

Like the grey. Held up well for 600 hours so far.

Very happy with Classic Aero interior

Three years and three hundred hours. Only issue is a couple of the interior pieces have some of the wrap that has come loose from the glue. Pretty easy to fix with some heat and additional adhesive.

Thanks for the pictures! Anyone have any insight on leather vs synthetic leather?

Leather = smells nice, thicker, hotter, creases become permanent
Synthetic = cooler, fights creases better, looks new over time, easier to clean

Really, it's just a personal preference. I like the synthetic over leather all things considered but wow that leather smell :p

Here's synthetic after just over 300 hours ...

Synthetic leather is supposed to be lighter. Don’t have to worry about cracking in the cold. The seating surfaces are perfect after 600hrs, but the tops have some abrasions before I learned not to drag luggage over the top of the backs in a slider.

Here is my interior before my first flight. The plane now has 100 hours on it and the seats look just as good as the day I installed them. The synthetic leather resists stains and creases. Most footprints wipe right off without any cleaning solution. I agonized over the decision between real and synthetic leather and couldn't be happier that I went with synthetic.

Not the greatest picture of the interior - but you can see the colors. 7 years and 800+ hours. The leather seats have worn more than I would have expected. Definite abrasions on the top of each seat back (down to raw leather). I actually have a small hole worn about shoulder blade high in the seat back on the pilots side. Strangely, the seat cushions have worn better.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your pics. Please keep them coming. I’m caught in a struggle between just replacing the current interior with an exact color and material match, or switching it up, and getting a bit radical with some of my choices.

I bought my 2008 RV-7 in spring of 2016 with 421 hrs on it. As of my last flight, I have 1411 hrs on the airframe. The seats are original. They are real leather and have held up fairly well, but are showing their age. They are dirty, and just like Dan, the tops of the seats reflect the abuse taken upon entry. Also, both front and cargo carpets are stained to the point of self-consciousness. Those are the reasons for exploring a new interior. That, and I think the newer side panels create better interior space. I appreciate all you guys helping out. You all have fantastic looking interiors, and I hope mine looks as nice soon.

Anyone with high time synthetic leather that can give us a comparison to the wear Dan and I have seen on the top of the seats?
