Mike's RV10 build

Yesterday was empennage inventory day. I found a small dent in a side skin, maybe nickel size, not very deep. It appears to have been caused by a forklift. The crate damage wasn't obvious from the outside. My thought is it's not an issue, it'll get filled with body filler at paint?

Thanks!
Mike

Not your fault - put a claim in with the shipping company and also notify Van’s. Replace the part.

There will be ample opportunity to fix your own mistakes during the build, you need not add mistakes by others.

Agree with Carl. Also, there's enough to do before you get to the tailcone that you can wait for a replacement without holding up progress.

Pneumatic dimpler build

Built a pneumatic dimpler to use as I build my RV-10. It makes well defined dimples and leaves a noticeable tooling ring around the dimple. I'll probably build an internal stop to reduce the "up" travel of the ram to reduce the time between dimples.

I am no expert, and have minimal aircraft building skills at this point, so if I'm missing something you notice on the video let me know.

Thanks!

Love your dimpler. Would you be willing to share a parts list and basic dimensions? I don't think the cycle time is too slow. You will be happy to have some extra time as a it will help save you from putting an extra hole in a skin that you didn't intend.

Looks great!! Do you have the model number of the air solenoid, the cylinder and the foot pedal? Any insight on where you sourced them?

Nice job!!

Thanks! It was fun to build! Quite a bit of lathe work to fit all the parts. I haven't had a chance to try setting a rivet with it yet, it'll be interesting to see if it will be rigid enough to set them.

I bought the air cylinder (surplus) off EBAY, model listed below. When I went to listing on EBAY where I bought it, it was unavailable.

The foot switch came from Amazon, there are numerous versions on Amazon cheap.

The link for the solenoid is listed below.
