Activity at Falcon Field (KFFZ)?

Well Known Member
Any RV'ers to fly out with or hang out with at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ? I'm just chilling at FFZ for this next week (through about the 15th). Alas, I'm parked on the "north 40" (the new Echo ramp near the MD helicopter plant) and there's not much life there, RV or otherwise.

Email ([email protected]) or phone (503-383-1205).

Oh, let me translate that into the vernacular of VAF: fife oh tree tree ate tree won too oh fife.

Conditions at home

Joe,

To help you enjoy your present location in Mesa, it is foggy and 30F at your home place this morning.

Wow!

That was an impressive flight! Non stop from 7S5 to FFZ. How much fuel did you use?

Looks like he stopped at KHTH

Ah yes, I see it now. Still some time in the saddle. When we fly from LGB to 7S5 we do it with one stop and then get right back in the air. By the time we get there we are done!

Refueled at Hawthorne (HTH)

Yes, that is right. ADS-B and even APRS coverage disappears at lower altitudes behind the mountains north of Hawthorne.

Total fuel burn was 39 gallons with FF around 7.1 GPH and 160 KTAS at 11,000 - 14000 MSL.

HTH is a treat: not only was the gas price the lowest around but the legendary Betty Easley is there to meet and greet.

Edited to attach image showing EFIS screen capture approaching the Phoenix class B airspace with total time turning over 700 hours.

I am coming there for heavy maintenance maybe I can buy you a drink Joe :)
You're a man of your word, Vlad. I see you're at FFZ transient parking after flying down from Dutch John Airport in far northeastern Utah.

I expect to be out at FFZ with a car tomorrow so let's meet, perhaps for a late breakfast or lunch. Please note my contact info in the thread starter message (and text to 503-877-7477 is good too).

Sorry I missed you, Joe. My 'Green New Deal' (N25DP) was at Falcon Field all last week parked next to another beautifully polished RV-7?? I flew down from Desert Aire (M94) on 1-04 with a fuel stop and overnight at Lincoln County, NV (1L1). Fuel @ $4.90. Stayed at a very nice B&B in Panaca which is only a mile and half from the airport. Returned on 1-08 with fuel stops at 1L1 and Nampa, ID (MAN). MOGAS @ $4.72. Really enjoyed the warm wx! Came back home to 6" of snow and 20 degrees.

I'm at FFZ if you guys need anything. I highly recommend visiting the CAF museum there. Lots of history at the airport.
If a couple of guys want to do a drive/tour of the Apache trail to eat cactus ice cream at Tortilla Flats let me know as I would be happy to escort if I can work out the schedule.
