Fuel tank calibration with Odyssey EFIS

William

Well Known Member
Preparing for my first flight in my rv-6a and need to setup the calibration of my fuel levels on the Odyssey efis. I'm using the resistive float senders from vans. My understanding is the range is 0-4095. I have 10 gallons in my tank and the raw level reading is 1200. So since the tanks hold 19 gallons each its apparent that this is not a linear measurement. Can anyone with these same sensors give me a good starting point for the calibration?

Thanks
Bill

I've had best success by starting empty. Set your tank size on the EFIS for whatever the six tops out at with the float (17g?). Then add fuel by the gallon using a milk jug. Stop at each calibration point and enter the float reading. There's no way to measure the last few gallons after the float hits the top of the tank, so just ignore them.
