If you make a major alterations such as changing a 9A to a 9 are there any requirements to change the aircraft registration or airworthiness certificate etc.? How about rebuilding a damaged plane? Thanks

I assume you are talking about FAA paperwork. Normally no! If you want to change the model it would require a new data plate, airworthiness certificate and operating limitations. But since we can use any model we like on amateur-built aircraft, a model change is neither required nor recommended.

A change of prop to or from a fixed pitch, or a change of engine type (reciprocating to turbine) requires a new 8130-6. Other than these, a logbook entry and appropriate flight testing should cover most anything.

It depends on what the operating limitations for that aircraft say. Most have a statement to the effect that a major alteration will require a return to Phase 1 and that the local FSDO must concur with the test flight area. Some older oplims didn't have that statement and a new special airworthiness certificate would have to be issued. And yes, I believe changing a nosewheel aircraft to tail is a major alteration.

A repair is just that. If there are no major changes a logbook entry should be enough.
