What did you do with your RV this weekend (10/16/21 - 10/17/21)?

Worked on building it!

Finally back in the shop after, well, Life.

Wings skeletons are 'done' and started hanging skins today.

Two big events... Requires a Post #1 and #2.

The weekend started Thursday for me. I got to fly my own airplane into the KMEM where I work and got some pictures of my fun airplane with my work airplane. Please don't mind the bugs on the canopy, it was a long flight and poor photo planning. Actually flew in to Memphis as a two ship of RV-4's. That probably hasn’t happened too many times there.

Stayed Thursday night in Memphis and then continued on to.... PETIT JEAN!

PETIT JEAN!!

For those who haven't been, you're missing out. If you think Oshkosh is top of your RV travel list, you're mistaken. If you think that Arkansas is too far away from you, you're wrong, you have an RV...

One of the best Aviation events I have ever attended. Nothing but good fun, good people, great food, and even better scenery. A true gem of an airport. More might show up about balloon busting from other peoples posts, but I'll just leave these here for now:

Yesterday was a great day for mountain flying.

Here's what it looked like on the map.

Who knew Pheasant hunting needed such aircraft?

It was Friday, but delivered a friend for opening day of pheasant season. Lots of wind, and uncertain return, but all went smooth as silk. My first RV landing, night in the rain and it was a perfect wheel landing with no one to see. Sweet ground speed on the return, it remained steady until 15nm from landing.

Petit Jean for me and my littles, what a Great Fly-In! A little weather delayed our arrival Friday but the next 2 days were fabulous.

The weekend was kinda blur, seeing old friends and meeting new ones was the best part. Popping Balloons was definitely second!

Petit Jean was a hoot and a holler' as always with quite the eclectic cast of characters. The first thing we did when we got home was cook up a big pan of colorful steamed vegetables :).

Frustrating!

It was a beautiful day Sunday, and I was going to fly over to Gunnison and visit a buddy for breakfast. Got the plane going and taxing out to do a runup when the fuel pressure started acting up. I read everything from 3 to 60 psi! It is most likely a sender problem, but I was not going to fly over the rockies with a wacky sensor. So I flew a couple of patterns, and put it in the hangar till next weekend when I will deal with it.

Oh well....

Blue skies

Geoff

Just a relaxing 4 country flight in my incredible traveling machine - Spain, Andorra, France, Switzerland. Can't say enough good things about my RV-8. For those of you building, "get'er done!"

Thanks Van's!

These kinds of flights can put things into perspective...600km as the crow flies, and you've crossed 4 countries.

In Oz, we can fly 600km and not even leave the state!:p

And now, for my "Whaddiyadooooo?", not much. Ordered some more oil, an oil filter, and an MS-something-or-other O-ring that I hope will seal the filler tube-to-case seal better than the original gasket, or the replacement RTV I tried...

tuning the night

easing into the night flying. I see my emergency landing sights disappearing in the darkness. switching to night mode.

Very cool...About 20 years ago I spent a week with my Belgian cousin and his family vacationing in Bouloc-en-Quercy about 18 miles WSW of Cahors france. Looks like you're path took you very near there, beautiful country....Ok back to pounding rivets

Conducted critical post-maintenance flight test to verify repair of weeping fuel tank rivet. Checked OK. 😂. Also, late breakfast at Greeley. Noted an airplane sitting in the middle of a thousand acre cut-over barley field. Circled once, pilot seemed non-chalant, outside the plane, maybe talking on his cell phone. No sign of distress, so I went on home.

Bar Harbor Trip

My "weekend" took place over the whole week. Flew from central TX to Bar Harbor Maine to admire the colors of the foliage change. 1st stop was Atlanta, GA to pick up my sister. Then a few days in Bar Harbor.

Trip included 23 flight hours, 4,000 miles, 20 take-off and landings & 4 instrument approaches all with the two favorite women in my life. It was a fantastic trip!

Re-installed my prop after complying with the 100-hour AD on the hub - I have the aluminum one. All good. And now I know how to install a prop. :)

Flew a LOT yesterday - VKX JYO YNG DMW EVY VKX. Long day.

Saw 193kts on the groundspeed on the YNG-DMW leg. :)
