Battery Cable Firewall Pass Through?

I am looking at the best way to pass through the 1/4” battery cable.

I am looking at this: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/eyeballfw3.php?clickkey=147226

Ideas? Better choices?

Aluminum melts at 1100F.

A tubular steel fitting pumped full of a good sealant is gas tight at 2000F. Hot test here: https://vansairforce.net/community/showpost.php?p=549839&postcount=42

Although less effective, the same tubular fitting can be used with a clamped firesleeve cover for wiring and other items where the passage may be accessed later.

This type of tubular fitting is now standard in the RV-14 kits. Center photo, battery, main bus, and control cables on my RV-8
.

agree with Dan that aluminum is not a good fit here. Steel Tubular flanges are easy to make or acquire. If there is any interest in stainless steel eyeball pass through's like the style in the link, I can make some for purchase. Never seen any in materials other than Al.

In picture it is by the sensor; no fire resistant fill or fire sleeve yet.

Perhaps I pasted the wrong link. I used these for my project and they are definitely steel: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/eyeballfw2.php

Fiddliness I will leave up others to determine. The steel tube fitting method is good too, just pointing out that if it's a stainless eyeball fitting you want, they are indeed available.

I used the same - they are good, and they are steel. I had bought the aluminum ball with the single nut, before I understood the risks that Dan's been highlighting, and thankfully they were so crappy, I changed to the steel balls. I recommend avoiding the aluminum balls.

If

If you decide to use the SS firewall pass though, I have an Avery kit that I would make you a deal on. I didn’t end up needing it for my -10…
