How did you make it shine?

There is at least 5 years corrosion on my no paint aluminum 8. I want to polish it. Can anyone suggest a good polishing product? I want to use a buffer. Any mistakes I should not make? Will the reflection of the sun be to bright/shiney in flight?

Other comments?

Thanks in advance. I feel like such a rookie.

Moved your thread to the forum all about polishing.

You might want to explore this a bit, might find the answer is already there.

One method

Nuvite and Cyclo polisher. Mine started with same years of unpainted neglect. Lots of work and paint on sections I didn't want to polish - fuse and wing bottoms. Then finished off with a paint job similar to Scott Yoke's Quick Silver P-51.
Like the outcome, but know that you'll never be done once you go down this road.

Galen,

Start with F9 1 pass
F7-5 to 7 passes
C--1 pass
S with cyclo 1 pass

That is the sequence to get you started.
Get on NuVite website and that will also help.
Order plenty of wool pads and a good buffer.
