4 year dribble

BH1166

Well Known Member
I’ve owned my 30 year old 6A for 4 years. Whenever I remove the cowl, I usually find a drop on multiple screw heads as noted in the picture. I also find some of the screws slightly loose. The droplets seems to be a mixture of oil and concentrated fuel dye…..very very dark blue. Pump replaced with Tempest brand at 606 hrs, now at 1148 hrs.

Questions: just tighten the screw(s) and move on, it happens/not a symptom of bigger issue? Is there a torque value I should be using ?

Thanks

Same Issue

Same thing here with a brand new Tempest pump when I bought my Titan engine a few years ago.

Tempest reluctantly replaced the pump under warranty, but I sold the replacement pump prior to installing it and bought a Lycoming branded pump. The Lyc has been dry and trouble-free.

ARE THERE LOCK WASHERS UNDER SCREW HEADS?

I’m not sure, but found a 2018 picture I took. Don’t think what I see are lock washers. I do see a droplet on a screw head….my concern. I think I’ve seen pictures online with lock washers A1AVIATON47 ? Hmmmmm….might be what’s needed.
