Default Early arriver questions from a first-time HBC user

For those who get to HBC before Sunday:

How soon are the camping amenities (bathrooms, showers, etc) available?
When does the camp store open?
Are there food vendors set up yet?

I won’t arrive until Sunday but curious since so many people get there even earlier. Please save me a spot!!

We arrived yesterday. Showers and bathrooms are open at the homebuilt camping pavilion and coffee is up in the morning Don’t know about the camp store.

An hour or so ago I walked around the show areas north of the square and a couple of A&W food places were open.

HTH

90 today and tomorrow, a little humid but not too bad. Supposed to cool way down after some weather goes through tomorrow evening.

Bring your good gust locks and tie downs…

Listening to the tower feed today and the green dot webcam.
When you hear the whole cab of spotters collectively go "whoa!", you know that ain't good!
A taildragger did a "tailspin" (controller-speak) on 18 (90deg'ish x-wind). I think it was a C185. Some RV was next and they sent him to 27.
C185 said they were okay.

I think the takeaway is that if you're not comfortable with a crosswind, and the other runway is available, don't be shy about requesting it. (lest ye end up on the blooper reel)
