Importing from Canada

As of late, there have been a few nice looking RV-4's come on the market from Canada, that have my interest. Anyone with experience in purchasing and registering a Canadian experimental in the USA care to share their experience. On the surface it sounds like a daunting and time consuming task having to work with 2 government bureaucracies.

I imported a U.S. built RV-4 from Canada a couple of years ago. Not really that bad. You can fly it on Canada registration or change back to U.S. registration. To get it U.S. registered you must first cancel Canada registration and have them notify Oklahoma City by official channels. Then get DAR inspection and new airworthiness certificate, then new registration.

I had the Canadian owner fly it across the border to U.S.

Canada?

You don’t want to import a Canadian RV, too much trouble.
Being Canadian, I might be biased in my opinion and I might want what few RV’s we have here in Canada to stay here.
Just sayin 😜
