What did you do w/your RV this weekend? (8/15/2020 - 8/16/2020)

Me? Absolutely nothing. Just thought about where to take it next (tomorrow?). I was busy flying the work airplane this weekend.

Guessing by the rather slow activity on VAF right now, I am guessing that there are a lot of RV's flying. So, fess up! :D What did you do with your RV this weekend?

After spending the morning on the lake with the boat, went up late afternoon in the plane to just keep the engine lubed and play over and around the clouds a bit before landing back at our home strip.

Congrats Walter! I met you at TOA when you had your very nice -7A for sale, and your work is top notch.

What about 1st Flight!?

On Friday, August 14th, I was able to make the 1st flight of my RV-9A.
Can't express how happy I felt!

Edited video coming...

With the help of my good friend Bruce Hill, we repaired a leaking wheel cylinder on my -10. Bruce made his own $100 brake bleeder (for about $20) which he generously flew up to Long Beach to help me out.

I actually like his version better than the ATS model sold at Spruce because he uses clear tubing for both the inlet and the overflow. There is no doubt you are pumping in Hydraulic fluid with the clear tubing.

Thanks Bruce!

KWHP to L52

Fun but “hot” flight to Oceano, Ca with my daughter. 20 years ago she helped me build my 6A , which we flew many hours together. Sold 6A in 2004.... no flying for 16 years! Got the bug again last year and purchased my 7A this past Jan. This was her first flight since 2002! Had a blast!

Mono Lake (O24) from NorCal

Flew "Starlord" from O61 (Cameron Park, CA) to O24 (Lee Vining) to escape the heat of the valley and enjoy the incredible views of the granite mountains around Yosemite Valley and Tioga Pass. It was breathtaking as we flew the pass over Hwy 120 at 9000' below the hilltops and then it opened up in the expansive valley of Mono Lake. We did a short hike (~3/4 mi) into town for lunch, diverted for a little hike around a local creek, then flew back home. Great flight, beautiful views and a short diversion around Half Dome.

Link to a range of photos.
