Hi folks,

My Quickbuild kit came with the holes in Bulkhead F-706 and Stiffener F-787 dimpled where the F-788 gusset mates. For some reason, I decided to machine counterrsink the holes in the F-788 gusset for the dimples in the skin. This won't work since there shouldn't be dimpled holes below a machine countersunk sheet of AL.

I talked to Vans support on this one and they thought 2 options were acceptable:
  1. Order a new F-788 gusset and dimple it instead of machine countersinking it.
  2. Flatten the appropriate dimples in the bulkhead and stiffener.

What do folks think?

Thanks!
Russ

Flattening the dimples is straightforward and pragmatic.

A third option is to cut your own new F-788 from 2024 sheet and use the existing F-788 to match drill the holes.
