Internet Without Trying Very Hard

> How To...
Check out this story - it's the perfect example. It took about five minutes to do. You don't need web skills to do this, just a digital camera and access to the Internet. Never done this before? Here are the steps:
- Buy a digital camera (or borrow a friend's). I'm partial to the models that save images on 'compact flash' cards. The 128MB card in my camera holds three hundred and twelve 640x480 images. Dump 'em on the computer, erase the card, start over.
- Find something RV related and take a bunch of pictures.
- If you haven't done it already, go to www.clubphoto.com and join (it's free). Just click on 'Join the Club' and follow the instructions. Signing up shouldn't take more than about five minutes and you only need to do this one time.
- Go to your newly created clubphoto account. You might want to click on 'Modify your Home Page' to add a picture of yourself on the front page and maybe type a few sentences that people can read (like contact information). Check out mine if you want an example of this.
- Now you're ready to upload some pictures....
Click on 'Create a New Album' and type in a name (you can upload up to 60 images per 'album').- Click on the newly created album link and click on 'Change Album Name'. You'll now see a 'Album Description' area where you type type your story (you could even copy/paste text from your word processor so you can take advantage of a spell/grammer checker). These words will appear above the pictures and is the 'text' of your article. Click on 'Update' when you're done.
- Optional: Click on 'Change Album Style'. I prefer setting the font to 'Arial' and the font size to '1 size smaller'. Then I set the number of Thumnails across the page to '4'. You get more stuff on the page this way. Click on 'Set Album Style' when done.
- Click on 'Add Pictures' and then on the 'Drag & Drop Pictures' icon over on the right hand of the screen. In the window that pops up navigate to the directory where your pictures are. Hold down the Shift key and click on the first of the images then scroll over to the 60th (if you have that many) and click again. They should be highlighted black. Now click on 'Open'. A little window will pop up where you can add captions to a few of the images quite easily if you want to. Click on 'Upload Pictures' when you are finished adding captions. Go get something to drink while they're uploading.
- When finished uploading, use the 'Edit Image' button above each image if you want to adjust a caption, delete an image, or move it around. Click on 'Return to Album' when your happy.
- Email the web address at the top of your screen to me at vansairforce@hotmail.com. I'll put a blurb about your story right up here on the front page and add a link to it in the 'Travel Stories' section of the site. This is a great way for all of the major RV happenings around the planet to be shared visually with all those that will enjoy them most. You don't have to know anything about web design and best of all, it won't cost you any money on film.
You'll want to keep a backup copy of your pictures somewhere, because nobody knows what clubphoto will be doing in a few years, but you can't beat this for ease of use. Hope you find some of this helpful and have a nice Wednesday. dgr
