It came via UPS and here it is right out of the box (right).   I looked pretty funny walking around the house holding this in front of me.  I got the AOA option and the remote compass, but for now I'm just going to concentrate on hooking the basic unit up.  In short - this thing is amazing.  Go buy one.

I took it out to the airport and moved some instruments around.  Current plan: I'll eventually make a 4.25" x 7" sub-panel that will be on the left of the Dynon so I can have more even spacing.  At that point I'll probably move the airspeed indicator back up in the upper left corner and make a nice checklist placard to put in the lower left area (emergency, etc.)

Note the G-meter and OAT indicators in the far left picture (MX=maxG CR=currentG MN=minG) and the AOA bar in the far right pic.  Three new useful pieces of information (ESPECIALLY THE AOA).

I made a sub-panel to make room for the Dynon and started moving instruments around.

After talking with Danny King over the weekend I've decided to make a change in what the final panel will look like.  I'm now going to move the Trio Avionics EZ Pilot (and TC) over to the lower left and put my VOR head under the Dynon (it's currently on the other side of the panel).  Why do this?  Well, here's why.  Most say this is a good rating to have even if you never use it.  Just might save your bacon someday.

2/1/2004 - Dynon hardwired in and subpanel painted.  Still need to hook up pitot/static lines and start planning for AOA.
